Fragi Tea
This is a design project centered around the innovation of glass flameworking techniques. We've developed a unique approach where glass is manipulated like knitted wool, allowing us to create objects with distinct tactile charm. These hand-crafted pieces retain the transparency and durability of borosilicate glass while boasting a fabric-like texture.
To showcase this novel technique, we designed a tea set where each component highlights the material’s capabilities and aesthetic potential.
Teapot
This teapot, shaped like two stacked pebbles, unifies form and function. By eliminating traditional spouts and handles, the design integrates intuitive features into smooth, organic curves.
The “upper pebble” acts as an ergonomic, heat-insulated handle while cradling a knitted-glass tea filter at its core for seamless brewing. The “lower pebble” stores tea, its tilted edge carved into a wide, angled spout for easy pouring and cleaning.
Glass
The glass celebrates the beauty of handcrafted materiality. Its lower half mimics a smooth river pebble, housing an inner chamber embedded with a knitted-glass insert. When filled, the pebble base acts as a magnifying lens, amplifying the intricate texture of the glass weave into a dynamic visual display. As liquid swirls, the interplay of light and movement creates a mesmerizing dance of patterns.
Incense Tray
Born from our earliest exploration of knitted-glass techniques, this tray marries serendipity and intention. At its center rests a knitted-glass bead—the first object created during technical experiments—now repurposed poetically: a naturally formed aperture holds incense sticks, enhancing tea rituals with subtle aromatic harmony."
